Doctor of Osteopathy

Also known as Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. A doctoral degree for physicians which grants the same rights, privileges, and responsibilities as MDs. Osteopathic Doctors are also trained for an additional 300 - 500 hours in the study of hands-on manual medicine and the body's musculoskeletal system. This training is referred to as osteopathic manipulative medicine and is absent in the MD curricula. Also written D.O.
